Types of CITB Health, Safety & Environment Tests

There are three levels of the HS&E test, depending on your job role and experience:

1. Operatives HS&E Test

The Operatives Test checks that you have the minimum level of health, safety and environmental awareness needed to work safely on site.

It covers five core areas:

These tests build upon the Operatives Test and include specific trade-based knowledge.

Booking the CITB HS&E Test

You can book your CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test through approved testing centres across Northern Ireland, including Portadown and surrounding areas.

Bring valid photo ID and arrive 15 minutes early for registration.

CITB HS&E Test Reports & Results

After completing your test, you’ll receive a CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test Report showing your score and whether you passed. Passing candidates can immediately apply for their CSCS or CSR Card.

If unsuccessful, you can retake the test after 48 hours.
