Confined Spaces - Safe Entry & Full Breathing Apparatus (High Risk - 2 Days)
High-Risk Confined Space Training With Full Breathing Apparatus | NI & Ireland
Duration: 2 Days
Locations: Portadown, Northern Ireland | Dublin, Ireland | On Site
Price: £275 (ex VAT)
Our Confined Spaces – Safe Entry & Full Breathing Apparatus (High Risk – 2 Days) course provides essential training for personnel who enter, supervise, or work within high-risk confined spaces. This comprehensive programme covers safe working practices, full breathing apparatus (BA) use, emergency procedures, and the practical skills required to work safely in hazardous confined space environments.
Delivered by specialist instructors, this high-risk confined spaces course ensures your team is compliant, competent, and confident when operating in dangerous or oxygen-deficient spaces across Northern Ireland, Ireland, and the wider UK.
Who Should Attend?
This course is ideal for individuals who:
- Enter or work in high-risk confined spaces
- Work in hazardous atmospheres or areas requiring full BA
- Operate in substantially enclosed spaces with limited access
- Supervise or undertake confined space operations
- Are part of emergency rescue teams
- Work in sectors such as utilities, water services, construction, maintenance, petrochemical, engineering, and local authorities
This two-day programme is more intensive than standard confined space training and is designed for people who spend significant time in high-risk environments.
Course Aim
To provide delegates with practical and theoretical knowledge to safely enter and work in high-risk confined spaces, ensuring all work is carried out using correct procedures, breathing apparatus, and safe systems of work.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Identify what a confined space is and recognise associated hazards
- Understand relevant legislation including the Confined Space Regulations and Codes of Practice
- Understand high-risk confined space classifications
- Carry out confined space risk assessments and develop safe systems of work
- Prepare and follow entry procedures, permits, and communication protocols
- Understand the importance of ventilation and prevention of unsafe atmospheres
- Correctly use gas detection equipment
- Select and use ropes, tripods, safety harnesses, and man-riding winches
- Understand the purpose and function of escape breathing apparatus
- Correctly use full breathing apparatus (BA)
- Maintain, inspect, and test all equipment used during confined space entry
- Understand how to plan and support a confined space rescue
- Recognise emergency procedures and response requirements
- Participate in supervised practical confined space entry exercises
- Demonstrate safe working practices in realistic high-risk scenarios
Training Methods
This course combines:
- Classroom-based learning
- Hands-on practical exercises
- Demonstrations using real equipment
- Supervised confined space entry practice
This ensures delegates gain both competence and confidence in real-world situations.
Assessment
Participants will be assessed through:
- Practical confined space entry and BA use
- Observation of safe working practices
- Knowledge checks and tutor evaluation
Successful candidates receive certification valid for organisational and legislative compliance.
Certification
Upon completion, candidates will receive an industry-recognised Confined Space High-Risk certificate.
Certification remains valid typically for 3 years (dependent on employer or industry requirements).
Course Requirements
- Candidates must bring suitable clothing for practical confined space work, including waterproofs and a change of clothes.
- A medical fitness certificate is required due to the physical demands of breathing apparatus and confined space entry.
