The Emergency Response Team (ERT) Basic Training Course is designed to provide delegates with the essential skills and knowledge to act effectively during workplace emergencies. This practical, hands-on course focuses on rescue operations, fire response, breathing apparatus use, and casualty handling, ensuring your ERT members are prepared to respond quickly and safely in real-life situations.

Who Should Attend

This course is ideal for:

  • Members of on-site Emergency Response Teams (ERT)
  • Personnel responsible for fire, rescue, or confined space response
  • Site safety officers or supervisors
  • Anyone involved in industrial emergency response operations

Prerequisites

Delegates must:

  • Be aged 18 or over
  • Be medically fit in accordance with current industry standards
  • Have a basic understanding of emergency response principles

Course Aim

The aim of this course is to provide delegates with the theoretical knowledge and practical experience needed to respond effectively during an emergency. Participants will gain confidence in using rescue equipment, managing breathing apparatus (BA), and performing safe casualty handling techniques.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate basic knowledge and use of breathing apparatus (BA) sets
  • Conduct BA safety checks and testing procedures
  • Operate safely in smoke-filled or dark environments
  • Handle fire hoses and firefighting equipment correctly

  •  Follow entry control and rescue procedures effectively
  • Apply safe teamwork and communication during emergency situations

Training Methods

PPE Requirements

Delegates should bring:

  • Safety boots
  • Helmet
  • Gloves
  • Hi-vis vest or jacket

For the fire training module, full fire protective clothing is required (fire suit, gloves, helmet, and boots).
Personal facemasks and breathing apparatus are preferred but can be provided if required.
