The Emergency Response Team (ERT) Refresher Training course is designed for delegates who have previously completed ERT Basic Training and need to renew their competence in breathing apparatus use, fire response, and casualty handling. This 1-day refresher reinforces essential emergency response knowledge through both theoretical learning and hands-on practical assessment.

  • Supervisors and safety officers involved in fire and rescue procedures

Prerequisites

Delegates must:

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Be medically fit under current industry standards
  • Have successfully completed ERT Basic Training prior to enrolment

Course Aim

The aim of this refresher training is to reinforce delegates’ understanding of emergency response procedures and ensure competence in the safe use of rescue and breathing equipment. Delegates will refresh both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for effective emergency response.

By the end of the course, delegates will be refreshed on:

  • Basic knowledge of breathing apparatus (BA) sets and procedures
  • Safe use and testing of BA equipment
  • Movement and navigation in smoke or darkness
  • Casualty handling and safe evacuation

Training Methods

PPE Requirements

Delegates must bring:

  • Safety boots
  • Helmet
  • Gloves
  • Hi-vis jacket or vest

For the fire training module, the following fire protective clothing is required: fire suit, gloves, helmet, and boots.
Personal facemasks and breathing apparatus are preferred but can be supplied if needed.
