Fire Extinguisher Training
Practical, hands-on instruction in the safe use of portable fire extinguishers. This half-day course includes a live fire demonstration and gives learners the confidence to respond correctly in the early stages of a fire emergency.
Delivered by experienced instructors, this course is ideal for workplaces seeking to meet their fire safety obligations and improve staff emergency response capability.
Training available in Portadown, Dublin, and on client sites, with remote theory options where suitable.
Course Overview
This practical training focuses on the correct selection and use of Water and Carbon Dioxide (CO₂) fire extinguishers for common workplace fire scenarios. Delegates learn how fires start, how to assess risk, and how to safely attempt fire suppression without putting themselves or others in danger.
The course combines classroom instruction with a live demonstration and supervised extinguisher use.

No previous fire safety training is required.
Course Aim
To provide delegates with the knowledge and practical skills to safely and confidently use Water and CO₂ fire extinguishers during the early stages of a fire, while understanding when evacuation is the safest option.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, delegates will be able to:
- Understand fire theory and how fires start
- Identify different fire classes and appropriate extinguishers
- Recognise when it is safe (and unsafe) to tackle a fire
- Use the PASS technique (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep)
- Maintain situational awareness during a fire emergency
- Understand workplace fire procedures and evacuation priorities

Certification
