Course Aim
This IOSH SHE Construction course equips delegates with the skills and knowledge to manage safety, health, and environmental risks effectively.
Delegates will learn how to:
- Apply management principles to health and safety.
- Develop achievable safety and health objectives.
- Identify and control construction site hazards.
- Promote a proactive safety culture across their teams.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this IOSH construction site manager training, delegates will be able to:
- Apply management principles to safety and health as part of a broader management strategy.
- Set achievable health and safety objectives, and plan and implement actions to meet them.
- Identify hazards and control measures within the construction environment.
- Recognise and manage human factor risks affecting work activities.
- Ensure adequate training, information, and supervision for all site operatives.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to establish causes and prevent recurrence.
- Communicate effectively with operatives, senior management, and safety professionals.
- Understand the legal responsibilities of employers, managers, and operatives under UK legislation.
Assessment Method
Assessment is conducted by Industry Training Services and moderated by IOSH.
Delegates are evaluated through:
- A one-hour written paper consisting of multiple-choice and short-answer questions.
- A practical workplace assessment focusing on the management of safety and health on construction sites.
Certification
Successful candidates receive an IOSH Managing Safely certificate, which is nationally recognised and demonstrates competence in construction site health and safety management.
While the certificate does not expire, IOSH recommends renewal every three years by completing an IOSH Managing Safely Refresher Course.
Additional Information: CSR Platinum Card Eligibility
Upon successful completion, delegates may be eligible to apply for a CSR Platinum – Academically Qualified Person or CSR Platinum – Professionally Qualified Person card.
