The IPAF Harness Awareness Course is designed for managers, planners, supervisors, and safety professionals who are responsible for overseeing the safe use of MEWPs (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms) but do not personally use or wear a harness.
Candidates can complete the IPAF Harness Awareness (HA) Course remotely via E-Learning or attend in-person at an IPAF-approved training centre in Northern Ireland or across the UK.
Course Aim
According to IPAF safety data, falls from height are a major cause of injury and fatality when using MEWPs.
This IPAF Harness Awareness E-Learning Course provides essential knowledge for the safe management, supervision, and correct selection of harnesses and lanyards, ensuring safe operation of boom-type MEWPs.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this IPAF Harness Training Online, delegates will be able to:
- Select appropriate harnesses and lanyards for MEWP operations.
- Manage and supervise harness and lanyard use on site.
- Develop and implement safe systems of work for harness and lanyard use in MEWPs.
Assessment Method
This is a theory-based course delivered via interactive E-Learning and concludes with an online exam to test knowledge and understanding.
Certification
Successful candidates will receive an official IPAF Harness Awareness Certificate and a digital IPAF ePAL Licence, valid for 5 years.
