Course Aim
The aim of the course is to provide learners with the technical knowledge and practical skills required to supervise traffic management gangs, ensure safe operations, and implement traffic control measures in line with NHSS 12D standards.

- Recognise key traffic management Health & Safety issues
- Interpret sources of information, including Chapter 8 and the Code of Practice (Red Book)
- Apply the Risk Assessment process to traffic management operations
- Assess equipment suitability, monitor site conditions, and recommend remedial actions
- Identify when management intervention is required
- Understand requirements for non-motorised road users
- Prepare for practical assessments to implement, maintain, and remove traffic control and convoy systems safely
Assessment Method
- Two written test papers, requiring a 75% pass mark
- Assessment evaluates theoretical knowledge and decision-making skills required for RLTMO duties
Certification
- Successful candidates receive a Lantra Awards card confirming T6/M6 qualification
- Refresher training required every 5 years to maintain certification
