Prerequisites
- Delegates must be 16 or over
- Must be medically fit in line with current industry requirements
- No previous NRSWA units are required

- Recognise common utility types found during excavation
- Identify risks associated with damage to gas, water, electricity, and telecoms
- Correctly operate CAT and Genny equipment to trace and locate services

- Identify which underground services cannot be detected with CAT/Genny
- Conduct location activities safely and efficiently
- Demonstrate knowledge through oral/written questions and practical assessment
Assessment Method
This unit is assessed through:
- Multiple-choice exam
- Practical assessment using CAT & Genny
Delegates must pass both components to achieve certification.
Accreditation
Upon successful completion, candidates will receive a CABWI Certificate for NRSWA Unit LA.
- CABWI Street Works certificates do not expire
- However, full Street Works cards typically require renewal every 5 years
