The S6 PIA Duct Survey course is designed for Communication Provider (CP) engineers and contractors working on the Openreach Underground Infrastructure. This accredited training enables delegates to gain their S006 Duct Survey certification, ensuring full compliance with Openreach standards and safe working practices.

Delivered at our ITS Training Centre, Portadown, this course provides the essential knowledge and competence required to carry out effective and compliant PIA duct surveys across the Openreach network.

Pre-Requisites

To attend the S006 PIA Duct Survey course, delegates must already hold:

  • SA002 – Underground Safety Certificate

This ensures all participants have a foundation of underground safety knowledge prior to completing the duct survey assessment.

Course Aim

The aim of the S6 PIA Duct Survey training is to assess a minimum of 5 Openreach joint boxes and the associated ductwork, ensuring full compliance with CP Engineering Principles and Openreach survey standards.

Learning Outcomes

The S6 PIA Duct Survey accreditation consists of three modules, each designed to build the delegate’s knowledge, skills and competence.

  • Module one aims to develop delegates’ knowledge of the Openreach Underground Infrastructure.
  • Module two aims to give delegates the skills needed to safely carry out a PIA Duct Survey.
  • Module three will have the delegates demonstrate their knowledge of competency required to complete an effective PIA Duct Survey.

Training Method & Assessment

The course includes:

  • Hands-on practical survey sessions
  • Competency-based assessment on real joint boxes

Delegates must successfully demonstrate the required knowledge and practical ability to complete a compliant PIA duct survey.

Certification

Upon successful completion, candidates will be awarded the Openreach S006 Duct Survey Certification, enabling them to perform PIA duct surveys across the Openreach network.
