The S7 PIA Sub Duct and Cable Installation Underground Recertification course is designed for Communication Provider (CP) engineers and contractors who work on the Openreach underground network. This one-day assessment is mandatory for maintaining your S7 accreditation and ensuring continued compliance with Openreach engineering and safety standards.

This recertification confirms your ability to safely deploy Sub Duct and cable (up to 25mm diameter) within the Openreach underground infrastructure.

Course Aim

The aim of this assessment-only accreditation is to ensure delegates can demonstrate competency in the safe and correct deployment of cable and Sub Duct within Openreach underground networks, following all relevant quality standards and engineering principles.

What the Assessment Covers

During the one-day recertification, candidates will be assessed on:

  • Safe deployment of Sub Duct up to 25mm
  • Correct techniques for installing cable within Openreach underground infrastructure
  • Compliance with Openreach engineering specifications
  • Understanding of relevant PIA (Physical Infrastructure Access) standards
  • Following agreed network quality standards
  • Demonstrating safe working practices throughout all tasks

  • Knowledge questionnaire
  • Practical skills assessment

Prerequisites

Delegates must hold a valid SA002 Underground Safety certificate.
This certificate must be submitted in advance of booking to confirm eligibility.
