This training equips learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills to plan, locate, and avoid underground services safely, reducing the risk of harm to people and preventing damage to utilities.

Course Aim

Pre-Requisites

This accreditation is available to anyone aged 16 or over who is capable of reaching the required standard. No formal qualifications are required.

Assessment Method

Learners are assessed through practical and theory evaluations:

  • Practical Assessment: Demonstration of safe locating and avoidance techniques on-site
  • Theory Assessment: Knowledge of legislation, hazards, and best practice

Successful completion leads to Smart Awards accreditation.

Certification

Upon successful completion, delegates receive a Smart Awards SA022 Certificate, valid for 3 years.

Refresher training may be required to maintain competence after expiry.
