The SA104 Smart Awards – FTTP Customer Installation qualification equips learners with the knowledge, skills, and competence to safely and professionally install fibre within a customer’s premises. This includes routing fibre from the Customer Splice/Service Point (CSP) to the Optical Network Terminal (ONT), terminating fibre, commissioning ONTs, and completing customer handovers.

This course ensures that engineers can deliver high-quality, safe, and professional fibre installations while maintaining compliance with health and safety legislation.

Learning Objectives

SA104 focuses on the final stage of fibre delivery, ensuring that the customer receives a fully functional FTTP service. Learners will develop practical skills to:

  • Route, fix, and terminate fibre inside customer premises
  • Maintain fibre cleanliness and handling standards
  • Install and commission ONTs and routers
  • Apply correct bend radius and cable management
  • Communicate effectively with customers
  • Follow safe systems of work indoors and outdoors
