The Tetra Leaning Ladder & Flat Roof Candidate Course (Level 3) is designed for operatives who already use leaning ladders but currently access property elevations and flat roofs without adequate fall protection. This advanced course introduces safe working alternatives, including the correct use of work restraint fall protection systems and guidance on short-duration flat roof work, ensuring compliance with the Work at Height Regulations.

Who Should Attend?

This course is suitable for individuals who:

  • Are already trained in the use and inspection of leaning ladders
  • Access property elevations or flat roofs as part of their role
  • Currently operate without adequate fall protection
  • Carry out short-duration tasks on unprotected flat roofs
  • Work in telecommunications, utilities, construction, or maintenance environments

The course also introduces safer alternatives, including the use of MEWPs (scissor lifts) where appropriate, helping delegates understand the hierarchy of control when working at height.

Pre-Requisites

To attend this course, delegates must:

  • Have training and experience in ladder use and user inspection
  • Provide their own Tetra Leaning Ladder & Flat Roof Kit
  • Be medically fit to attend (completion of a medical statement is mandatory)
  • Be fluent in English

Course Aim

The aim of this course is to provide candidates with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely:

  • Use fall protection equipment with leaning ladders
  • Apply work restraint systems on unprotected flat roofs
  • Access property elevations and flat roofs while maintaining three points of contact

Delegates are introduced to approved personal fall protection equipment (PPE/FPE) and safe access methods that significantly reduce the risk of falls during routine work.

  • The difference between fall arrest and work restraint, and the importance of correct anchorage

  • Sufficient knowledge demonstrated through completion of a written assessment
